On August 31, 2025, at 11:47 PM local time (23:47 AFT / 19:17 UTC), a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Afghanistan near the border with Pakistan, with its epicenter approximately 27 km east-northeast of Momand Dara district, in Nangarhar and Nurgul district, Kunar.
